It's A Small Rumour

Story

In The Press

IASWA compelling rumour floating around the Internet points to something we've all known for a while - It's A Small World, after all.

While we aren't in the habit of posting a news story every time a rumour rears its head, this one appeared to have some aspects to it that were too difficult to pass up.

Someone by the name leemac, a regular poster at Laughing Place, has reported that we could hear an annoucement about the classic It's A Small World attraction as early as next month, although others speculate that we will hear something in January, after the Christmas/New Year festivities are over.

The attraction, which takes riders through an animatronic exhibit of the children of the world, originated at the 1964/65 New York World's Fair, and was largely designed by artist Mary Blair. Blair's other work included art for Disney animated features, most notably Alice in Wonderland, as well as being a respected artist for her work outside Disney. Since opening at Anaheim's Disneyland in 1966, the attraction has become a feature of all Disney parks around the world - with the exception of Hong Kong.

Big cranes for a Small World?

Big cranes for a Small World?

leemac reports that this version will be closely based on Mary Blair's original designs and will resemble the Disneyland, Anaheim version more than any other.

Given that there are no less than three cranes currently working behind Fantasyland, most now speculate that It's A Small World will be at the heart of whatever comes next.

We'll keep you posted.
