"A whole new world" awaits guests after dark as Disney in the Stars lights up the hub and Sleeping Beauty Castle with lights, projections and pyrotechnics. With some of Disney's most loved musical themes, colourful fireworks and a little pixie dust viewers are transported to the far off worlds of Disney stories.
As the lights dim on Main Street, U.S.A. and The Hub clips of famous Disney animated features are projected onto the castle's walls, increasing the anticipation and setting the mood. To the music of "A Whole New World" from the movie Aladdin the show is announced and powerful lights shining through the mist provide a moving frame for the first shots. A slinky solo violin holds the audience to ransom before leading down into the main theme of the piece, when the real pyrotechnics to begin. Continuing on, several exciting light, projection and pyrotechnic effects are showcased, including flame throwers and twinkling lights on the castle. Musically, the show moves on through "Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo" from Cinderella, the title melody from Alice in Wonderland, "I'll Make A Man Out Of You" and "Honor To Us All" from Mulan, the main theme and "Be Our Guest" from Beauty and the Beast. The show finishes with a grand finale of light and colour in the sky, once more to the music of "A Whole New World".
Disney in the Stars really captures the imagination of its viewers, taking full advantage of the wonderful music score to provide the perfect ending to a Disney day. The unique combination of searchlights, projections and pyrotechnics of varying shapes and sizes helps to uphold the Chinese's reputation of knowing how to put on good fireworks! This show is definitely a must-see for anyone visiting the park and is well worth a second viewing, which is easy because it is presented every evening!
The best place to view this spectacular presentation is on the hub, standing around the garden beds, but not too close to Sleeping Beauty Castle. This will allow you to see the projections on the castle walls but still appreciate the search lights and fireworks. While standing further down Main Street or on the steps of Main Street Station may seem advantageous, offering a more holistic view, such locations don't allow for proper viewing of the projections on the castle walls and remove you from the spectacle, which isn't designed at a grand scale for viewing from long distances. Guests wishing to video the show may want to be further away to capture all the effects in one frame.
