Running at least once a day, Disney on Parade crawls along the route between Fantasyland and Tomorrowland (near the Storybook Theatre) and the Town Square on Main Street, U.S.A. With 9 individual floats and almost 100 performers, including the Hong Kong Disneyland Marching Band, this parade is full of singing, dancing and enthusiastic energy.
Starting with the Lead Float, guests are introduced to the catchy theme tune, "Join the Magic", as the dancers get people moving. Band Leader Mickey, the largest moving inflatable used in a Disney parade, keeps the Marching Band in time as they follow in the procession. Next up is the Animation Float, showcasing the earliest hand animation techniques with the help of Chip 'n' Dale. Mickey Mouse's first full length cartoon short, Plane Crazy, is immortalised next, in the Walt Disney Studios Float, complete with film-reel dancers. Continuing on guests will see the Disney Princesses float, a castle spire shared by Snow White, Princess Aurora and Cinderella and led by the Seven Dwarfs. Another Disney heroine follows with the Alice in Wonderland float, including a psychedelic mushroom, the Cheshire Cat and the Queen of Hearts. Soon after guests are plunged "under the sea" to experience The Little Mermaid float, the home of Ariel and her singing underwater friends, Flounder and Sebastian. Rounding up the movie floats is Toy Story, being led by the green army men and the RC car. Buzz, Woody and Jessie are joined by other toys from the movies and junior Space Rangers in wheeled tennis shoes. To conclude the parade is Mickey, Minnie and friends in the Castle Finale Float, a replica of the park's own Sleeping Beauty Castle. There's a party on board, with an even more upbeat version of the parade theme song being played to end a memorable parade.
The Hong Kong Disneyland First Family, who is chosen to open the park at the start of the day will ride down the parade route in the Main Street Taxi just before the parade itself begins, waving at the guests lined along the route. To become the First Family for a day and receive this privilege simply be at the gates at opening time. Please note that on most days families of around 4, with younger children are chosen for this opportunity.
Although anywhere along the route affords good views of the parade as it passes, there are a few premium viewing positions throughout the park. If you need to catch a showing of The Golden Mickeys shortly after the parade has begun, watch it at the start in Fantasyland, right next to the entry to the Storybook Theatre. For photos of the parade passing Sleeping Beauty Castle, view the parade from the centre of the hub, in front of the flower beds. For an elevated view of the parade as it makes its way down Main Street, with Sleeping Beauty Castle at the end, view the parade from the steps up to Main Street Station near the entry to the park.
Photos of this daily spectacle running in its normal state can be found in Tom Pacy's January 2006 Holiday Gallery, while photos of the parade running in the altered wet weather mode can be found in Richard Gray's September 2006 Holiday Gallery. A short video of the start of this parade can be found at the HKDL Source's YouTube channel.

Altered Weather Modes On days when there is a spot of rain, Disney on Parade may continue as normal but with the characters wearing their rain jackets. This practice was more common before the introduction of Mickey's Rainy Day Express. On days of typhoon or wind weather warnings the final castle float may be substituted with the Main Street Omnibus carry the same, if not more, characters. |
