Cinderella Carousel

It wouldn't be a complete Fantasy without a noble horse to ride. Hong Kong Disneyland provides you with just that - well, one that goes round and round in a circle anyway. Nostalgia is on the cards at Hong Kong Disneyland as this ride is based on King Arthur's Carousel, another 1955 California original. It opened with Hong Kong Disneyland in 2005 to maintain that tradition.

Suitable for kids of all ages, the Carousel is one of the oldest rides in the book. Lovingly crafted with ornate detail and catchy music, and beautifully painted murals that tell the story of Cinderella, some kids may want to spend the whole day just going round and round and round. Some adults may want to spent the whole day going round and round too, but we'd seriously look into that behaviour if it carries on for more than a few days at a time.

Beyond the obvious - that is, the aforementioned going round and round - there is really not a lot else to this ride. If you are an adult patron, we'd understand if you wanted to skip this and head straight to the more 'Disney' style rides. After all, this is not too different from the carousels found in most amusement parks (or even shopping malls). However, there is a simple joy to be had on a carousel, and it is certainly a way to rest your weary feet for a few minutes.

Alternatively, you could actually pretend you are riding into battle, screaming "Cry havoc and let slip the dogs of war!" every few rotations. This is sure to startle your fellow patrons, and probably thin out that line that is rapidly growing around the popular attraction. Of course, be prepared to run if the security guards decide that this is "not very Disney".

Given the nature of the ride, it is a "slow loader", so if you or your kids really want to ride the Carousel, set aside a little time for lining-up and the actual ride itself.
