Trip Report:

We have been going to HKDL every other day since the 4th of July. My experience with most of the staff has been wonderful. I've had a few racist comments made by a staff member at the Stitch Encounter, but that was dealt with very swiftly when I complained to a supervisor. MY 5 year old got sick waiting in a line, and staff brought her a drink and cold towel. She loves to get the stickers and most of the cast members carry them. While the castle is small by day, it becomes enormous at night. There is nothing like fireworks at any DL to send me back to my child hood. All the bad events of the day (pushing tourists, jumping queues, and umbrellas too high during the parade to name a few) are all washed away when the lights are dimmed. I'm very impressed with the speed of the turnover in characters during the summer pass nights. Even DD noted that Mickey was just in summer clothes, and now he's the sorcerer's apprentice. I think for a young child, there is plenty to do. For us older people, well, the Philharmonic twice in one day is too much. I think the majority of the problems with bad press here comes from people who bought park hopping tickets back home and expect the same at HKDL without realizing where they are. The prices are reasonable. anywhere between HK$25 for a fast food meal to HK$100 for a sit down dinner entre. beware hte price of coke though. HK$20 a bottle! A bit steep for me. I wish the shops would have something in them besides t-shirts, and cookies. I know it's a chinese thing to give tins of cookies out, but I think HKDL has gone overboard with the variety. We have ears, but no name badges. Transport to and from is relatively high. But that's the locals, not HKDL. Overall, we love it. I'll be first in line to buy annual passes next month.
